Wael Almazeedi

As Chairman and co-founder of the FATE (Free Access to Energy) Consortium, Wael Almazeedi empowers innovations in sustainable and renewable energy. Overseeing the organization's involvement in high-potential energy solutions, he works to bring renewable resources from the theoretical stage to commercial use. Wael Almazeedi provides guidance, inspiration, and support for a number of large-scale projects including the integration of renewable energy into conventional processing, the development of privately funded space-based solar power (SSP), and the financing of major sustainable energy infrastructures.

Before establishing the FATE Consortium, Wael Almazeedi established and managed the BTU Power Company Funds I & II. Dedicated to facilitating independent power projects in emerging markets, these combined funds brought $400 million in equity to China, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates. Wael Almazeedi's experience in the high-profile Middle Eastern energy market dates back to the mid-1980s, during which time he worked for the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. Serving under the company's refining subsidiary, he successfully established real-time connections between refining and marketing through the implementation of cutting-edge communications technologies.

Wael Almazeedi holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. He adds this credential to his strong scientific background, which includes a Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry with Control Engineering from the United Kingdom's University of Kent as well as a post-graduate diploma in Petroleum Economics from the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Oxford, England. Wael Almazeedi has received a number of accolades for his accomplishments in energy technology and industry, including numerous speaking engagements. He has also earned widespread publication for his writings on the world's energy challenges, and he is the 2006 recipient of Ernst & Young's prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the energy category for the New England region.
