Michelle McGill-Vargas

Michelle began teaching students who are deaf and hard of hearing in 1998. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education in 1997 from Ball State University. She also earned a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Indiana University Northwest in 2002 and another in Educational Administration from Purdue University Calumet in 2012.

She considers herself a Christian writer of fiction and is currently summoning the courage to send out a completed historical fiction manuscript. She took a leap of faith and published an inspiration piece titled “The Light of the World” in the October 2010 The Lutheran Witness that received an Honorable Mention from the Associated Church Press for Reporting and Writing that same year.

Michelle resides in Gary, Indiana with her husband and two babies: a 14-year-old (poodle) and a 6-year-old (Welsh Corgi).
