Abayomi was born and raised in London before moving to the heart of electronic music, Berlin, to make the city his home and place of residence. A vinyl junkie since his teens, Abayomi has been passionately collecting and DJ’ing since the 90’s after falling in love with the rawness of Hip-Hop. Through digging for rare breaks his mind was quickly opened to other genres of music. However it wasn’t until he arrived in Germany and was exposed to legendary techno clubs, that he was wholly converted to the minimalist machine funk from Detroit and Chicago. Like connecting the musical dots, finally it all made perfect sense. His collaboration with Jerome Sydenham of Ibadan Records lead to his first vinyl release and later he also remixed for Justin Harris of Music for Freaks, both under the production moniker Iroko. After a break to focus on his professional career at Ableton, working as the European Product Specialist and Ableton Certified Trainer, he is back stronger than ever. He is the host of the Basement Sessions, creating a cultural platform for underground music also as music label owner and the Berlin representative of Heads With Tales. Be sure to catch him in clubs or on the airwaves with sounds that are intimate, soulful and true.
