Abbey Askew Futrell

Abbey Futrell is a Digital Learning Coach and Research Associate with the Digital Learning Collaborative at The William & Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. Prior to joining the Digital Learning Collaborative Team, Abbey’s collective 15 years in education includes service at the local, district, regional and state level. Her roles have included service as a public school middle grades Language Arts teacher, public school secondary English Literature teacher, district Instructional Technology Facilitator, 6-12 Instructional Coach and Professional Development Consultant with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

A graduate of East Carolina University, Abbey also holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and recently earned a Master of School Administration from Elizabeth City State University. Her work with the Friday Institute encompasses virtual and face-to-face instructional technology coaching for teacher leadership teams and 1:1 school districts across the state of North Carolina.
