Adrian Houston

A committed and experienced educator, Adrian Houston is dedicated to facilitating students’ academic and personal growth. Over the course of a lengthy teaching career, Adrian Houston amassed a thorough understanding of classroom technology integration; student-centered education; and essential skill development in reading, writing, and mathematics. Highly proficient in implementing “brain-based” teaching strategies, Adrian Houston incorporates a wide variety of creative concepts into lesson plans that serve to foster the growth of young minds. Working with children and adolescents ranging in age from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, Adrian Houston provides comprehensive instruction and supportive guidance to assist students in realizing their full potential. A firm believer in the power of active learning, Adrian Houston implements hands-on activities into the required core curriculum whenever possible. In the recent past, Adrian Houston coordinated a science-centric day trip in collaboration with a well-regarded children’s science institute. Students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade took part in the excursion, and many were recruited for the organization’s KIDS (Kids Interested in Discovering Science) Club. In addition to involvement with the KIDS Club, Adrian Houston also served as a Science Assessor for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and as a Program Coordinator for an acclaimed regional reading development program. As a public school educator, Adrian Houston works with a diverse student population, utilizing excellent interpersonal skills and innate teaching talent to maximize the value of time spent both inside and outside the classroom. Employing creative educational methods to engage students in their academic coursework, Adrian Houston is dedicated to creating an environment that encourages both critical thinking and free expression. In conjunction with daily teaching pursuits, Adrian Houston devotes time and energy to expanding students’ access to cutting-edge technology tools. Working together with fellow educators, Adrian Houston has provided training in initiatives such as the Teacher Support System Intranet Resources. Adrian Houston also supports numerous organizations dedicated to community improvement, including the local chapter of the American Red Cross and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
