Alicia Edquist is a professional freelance multimedia journalist who is always looking to share someone’s story through writing, photography, videography and audio. She has a passion for learning new things about the community that she lives in and covers. She covers stories in the City of Downey, California and Los Angeles area, everything from council meetings to local events.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry from Hope International University and a master’s degree in new media journalism from Full Sail University.

Her passion for learning translates in the classroom where she works as an adjunct professor and instructional lab technician in the Mass Communications department at a local community college in Southern California specifically with student media outlets.

She has worked as a social media/platforms editor/admin for several local churches in the area.

She has served as Communications Director for Journalism Association of Community Colleges in California.

Alicia has spent the last 12 years working in education in the journalism program. During her time while she attended community college she was Editor in Chief of the Talon Marks Brand and Editor of the Wings Magazine. She also served in other editor positions that include Online Editor.

It is her dream to become a full-time journalism instructor at a community college and oversee student media outlets. She would love to write and do multimedia story telling for a local and national newspaper. If for only one day, Alicia would love to be apart of the White House Press Corp and experience what its like to cover the White House.
