Agnieszka Stachurska

Barcelona, Catalunya

Born in 1985, in Cracow, one of the most beautiful Polish cities. Her love for performing arts made her decide to begin Theatre Studies at the Jagiellonian University. She spent her last academic year in another amazing city, Barcelona, studying Spanish and Catalan language and culture. One day she grabbed a play written by a Catalan author and started to translate it, just for fun. One year later her translation was being published in an anthology, together with two other Catalan plays translated into Polish. Since then she decided to become a professional translator. In 2010 she graduated in translation at the UNESCO Chair in Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication in Cracow. She has translated eight theatre plays (of authors like Sergi Belbel, Lluïsa Cunillé, Rodrigo García) but being a freelance translator requires a lot of flexibility. Nowadays Agnieszka translates different kinds of texts, ranging from technical manuals to software localisation but she always treats her work as an art.
