Old school software guy, wannabe Gen-Y kid and occasional Pointy Haired Boss. My job title says technical manager but I still commit code to the repository and take a light touch on the management. Give people the information, space and occational guideance; and they do the right thing.

I've spent my time hovering between the business and technical side of the software industry. My passion is in the technology, but I know the reality of why people need it and what it can do for them.

As well as getting cutomers neat solutions to their problems I love to teach and share from my thirty plus years of experience (I wrote my first computer program in 1978 on an ICL mainframe). I've spoken many times at various conferences and meetings (see Slideshare for some of my previous talks) and have a few toy projects on BitBucket.

My bragging rights include starting the Greater London Linux User Group, The UK Linux Developers Conference and Melbourne Raspberry Jam (Raspberry Pi user Group).

I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia but I've lived in Britain, France, Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain. I've also worked in the US, Singapore, Thailand, France, India and New Zealand.
