I am currently working at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Nairobi, as a Senior Gender Scientist. My work focuses on gender issues in the livestock value chain in Tanzania in the framework of empowerment, agricultural research for development and food security. Before joining ILRI I worked at the International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) on gender research in empowerment, seed governance and participatory plant breeding. I obtained an MA in Social Anthropology of Development at SOAS, University of London, UK, and a PhD in social sciences applied to agricultural research for development at Wageningen University, NL. In my home town in Italy, I am involved in the small-organic farm that belongs to my family where we produce a beautiful organic olive oil.
