Ali Shameem

A native of Maldives Islands, Ali Shameem holds a PhD in Teaching, Learning, and Technology as well as a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania. He also possesses a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Computer Science from Coventry University. Dr. Shameem is an experienced computer science educator and an avid instructional technologist with research interest in technology integration, teachers’ attitudes towards technology, and the influence of culture. He enjoys working with teachers as well as students to facilitate learning with technology.

Dr. Shameem is the head of ICT at the Surabaya Intercultural School in Indonesia where he spearheads an innovative computer science program and leads technology integration initiatives. Prior to that, he spend 6 years at King’s Academy, Jordan as the director of Educational Technology and head of Computer Science. At King's Academy, Dr. Shameem chaired technology taskforce and pioneered student-led technology support program and a number other innovative technology initiatives to facilitate learning with technology and online learning. Dr. Shameem also worked in public schools and taught at different colleges in the Maldives. Consulting has taken Dr. Shameem throughout the Maldives and beyond where he enjoys meeting and mentoring new and experienced teachers and support them to use technology.

Dr. Shameem is active in educational technology arena, attending and presenting at conferences in different countries including the BETT( UK, Middle East, and South Asia), Microsoft Global Education Forum, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education(SITE), and Google for Education training summit. His real-world experience with technology, teachers, and students combined with his research has helped him to become a noteworthy speaker and a facilitator of technology professional development.
