Allen Waxman

After practicing law for more than 25 years in different capacities, Allen Waxman now serves as senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of Eisai, Inc. Responsible for advising the pharmaceutical company on legal, government affairs and public policy matters, Waxman provides leadership and guidance on numerous issues affecting its domestic and international business. Waxman and his team support departments ranging from research and development to manufacturing to commercial operations. Waxman and his team also act as lead advocates for the Company, and recently spearheaded a lawsuit against the U.S. government in an effort to expedite access to one of the Company's important anti-epilepsy drugs. In addition, Waxman is a member of the Company's Executive Committee.

Throughout his career, Waxman has remained active with numerous nonprofit and civic organizations. A member of the New York Lawyers' Regional Board of the Anti-Defamation League, he also sits on the board of directors for Day One, an entity that combats dating abuse among teens. For a period, Allen Waxman served as chairman of the board of trustees for the Thurgood Marshall Academy, a Washington, D.C., charter high school that uses the principles of a legal education to prepare students for college. In 2009, Waxman was asked to chair another group, Equal Justice Works, which promotes and facililates lawyers pursuing public interest law.
