Allison J Smith

Allison has a passion for social innovation, local business development and community engagement. Currently she is a Business Development Facilitator for Momentum's Women's Venture Start-Up and Venture Accelerator Programs. In addition, she writes about social good and community economic development initiatives for Calgary is Awesome. She aims to further develop a sustainable, inclusive and prosperous Calgary community that focuses on the triple bottom line.

Allison has an appetite for life, always challenging herself to try something new! For example, to help foster creativity she started studying Improv at the Second City Toronto in 2013.

She obtained her Master's in Management from London Business School in 2012. There, she developed her strategy, marketing and analytic abilities both in and out of the classroom. She took the opportunity to volunteer with the Impact Consulting team as well as intern with a consumer telecare start-up based out of the LBS Incubator.

Prior to LBS she worked in New Delhi India with a healthcare non-profit. She took the opportunity to travel and explore the Indian culture. Allison also holds a BScH from Queen's University where she studied Biology and Psychology. Her primary fascinations were: The Evolution of Human Ecology, Social and Personality Psychology. When Allison isn’t working you can find her sipping a good cup of coffee, illustrating greeting cards, hosting dinner parties, taking off on a weekend Rocky Mountain adventure or enjoying a good old game of crib.
