Amanda Machado
San Francisco Bay Area, California, Usa
I’m a writer/consultant working between Cape Town, South Africa and the United States. After teaching 9th grade English as a Teach for America corps member, I spent fifteen months backpacking South America, Southern Asia, Western Europe and the United States. Since then, I worked as a contributing writer to The Atlantic.com, and helped build the communications platform for a South African NGO called the Global Teachers Institute. I currently work as a Special Projects Editor at Matador Network, the largest online independent travel publisher. My articles have been featured by NPR, Jezebel, the Huffington Post, and over twenty other websites/blogs.
I continue to contribute to several other freelance education and writing projects around the world. I'm available for projects including writing, blogging, ghostwriting, research, workshop development, communications consulting, travel consulting and more. I graduated from Brown University with a degree in Nonfiction writing. I'm interested in the areas of travel, social justice, creative writing and education. I'd be happy to connect with anyone interested in similar work!
