Ocala, Florida, United States

An undergraduate at Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, Amanda Thurston is completing her bachelor's degree in studio art and plans to graduate in 2015. Before enrolling at FSU, she attended Tallahassee Community College and earned an associate of arts. Prior to going to FSU’s Tallahassee campus, Mandy Thurston spent several months in Valencia, Spain, as part of the school's study abroad program, traveled throughout Europe, and took courses in studio art. During her time at FSU, Amanda Thurston served as an event intern with the Seminole Boosters and developed promotional material for the institution’s sports teams.

While earning her degree, Amanda Thurston has held several fashion-related roles. As a sales associate with Her Kloset at Griners of Ocala, she aided customers at the upscale boutique clothing store in finding the perfect outfit and learned about the practical aspects of running a business. This experience enabled Mandy Thurston to establish her own company – The Lost Society Designs. As owner, chief executive officer, and chief artist, she produces jewelry using semiprecious stones and beadwork. She began the endeavor by making pieces for herself before expanding into manufacturing custom objects for other people. Additionally, she refurbishes furniture, photographs weddings and babies, and paints on canvases.
