I'm a food writer whose favorite topics are industrial food, Latin American home cooking, and the ugly side of eating. My essays have appeared in Salon, Slate, the Boston Globe, Gourmet magazine, and PBS and NPR blogs, among other places.

My first book, Combat-Ready Kitchen, an examination of the U.S. military’s influence on the American food industry and the way we eat, will be published by Penguin's Current imprint in August 2015.
