Andy Wu is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Business Economics and Public Policy Department at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He studies how entrepreneurs commercialize new technologies and how policymakers can promote innovation-driven economic growth, through the lenses of industrial organization economics and strategic management. His current research looks at diversity in R&D production team composition, incumbent-entrepreneur alliances in the biotechnology industry, skilled immigration caps and domestic innovation, and new technology discovery by venture capitalists.

Andy was recognized as one of the top 10 graduate teachers at the University of Pennsylvania; he is part of the teaching staff for Entrepreneurship, Healthcare Entrepreneurship, Managerial Economics, and Risk Management across the MBA, Executive MBA, and undergraduate programs.

Andy is passionate about linking the theory with the practice of technology commercialization entrepreneurship. He advises high technology companies in both an informal capacity as a board member on topics ranging from closing financing rounds to IP strategy. He has 10 patents granted or pending, with two more forthcoming, across rapid prototyping, medical imaging, robotics, and e-commerce.

He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Burchard Scholar with an S.B. in Economics and in Mathematics, where he served as President of the Everett Moore Baker House and the Undergraduate Economics Association.
