A. P. Porter’s books for children have won awards from School Library Journal, the National Council for the Social Studies, and the Young Adult Library Services Association. His Kwanzaa,illustrated by his wife, Janice Porter, was the first such book for children and won the Chicago Reading Round Table Award.
For nine years his column appeared in the Chico News & Review. He teaches creative writing at High Desert State Prison, and he's the best copyeditor on Earth.
