April Watts is a multi-talented performer best known to audiences for her work hosting television and radio programs in the Washington, DC market.
A proud native daughter of the nation’s capital city, April is currently an on-air personality at Baltimore's top rated urban a/c station Magic 95.9 FM. She is also the founder and editor of DC lifestyle web site What's Hot Washington.
Her career as a radio personality spans a decade and covers several formats. April was a midday personality at Majic 102.3 FM, WYCB 1340 AM, and WPFW 89.3 FM. She wrote, voiced, and produced the “Maximum Watts” entertainment segment for “The Bernie McCain Show” on XM 169 The Power and was a news reporter for Syndication-One under the moniker “Karen Taylor.”
April has hosted countless concerts for international music acts such as Patti LaBelle, Teena Marie, and Parliament Funkadelic, and conducted on-air interviews with A-list personalities including Mary J. Blige, Russell Simmons, Cornell West and Robert Kennedy, Jr.
In 2004, she worked with acclaimed actors/producers Tim and Daphne Reid as a celebrity judge on TV-One’s reality series, “Gospel Challenge” and in 2006 she was the female lead in Shirley Murdock’s music video “I Love Me Better Than That”. In 2007, April was an on-camera announcer for NBC-4’s “Food 4 Families” campaign. In 2010, she produced and hosted an award winning independent music program called WHW Rocks that was syndicated on local stations MCM and DCTV.
A published journalist she has written everything from entertainment to hard news and investigative stories. Her articles have appeared in Musician Minds and I.B. Concepts magazines, as well as The Washington Informer, and Washington Afro newspapers. April has also contributed to Fox 5's African American web portal MyVoiceDC.
April attended Pitzer College in Claremont, CA where she majored in Anthropology and Black Studies.
