ASHA DORNFEST

I'm the founder of Parent Hacks -- a site full of forehead-smackingly smart tips for life + kids. Parent Hacks is one of Real Simple magazine's three choices for "best parenting and family blog," a Daily Beast "Beast Best" award winner, and Babble has deemed it "#1 Most Useful" of its Top Mom Blogs three times.

I'm currently working on a Parent Hacks book, forthcoming from Workman in 2016.

I'm the author, with Christine Koh, of Minimalist Parenting: Enjoy Modern Family Life More by Doing Less. Cool Mom Picks called Minimalist Parenting "the must-have book of the year. And hopefully every year."

These topics have fascinated me for years:

  • Simplifying family life
  • Embracing confidence and trusting yourself
  • Organizing and decluttering your home
  • Managing your time and attention
  • Enlarging your definition of "education"
  • Travel with kids
  • Taking "experts" with a grain of salt
  • Life balance, and the contradictions therein

In my experience, people are generally good, smart, and generous. I do my best to share that message every day.

I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband, 14 year-old son, and 11 year-old daughter.
