Barbara Wilkanowski

Former Supervising Assistant District Attorney Barbara Wilkanowski has more than two decades of experience working with criminal law, constitutional law, and criminal procedure at the highest levels of the American justice system.

Barbara Wilkanowski showed an interest in jurisprudence while she was still an undergraduate. A magna cum laude graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Barbara Wilkanowski proceeded to CUNY Law School at Queens College, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 1988. During her time as a law student, Barbara Wilkanowski completed internships, clerkships, and summer associateships with Debevoise & Plimpton; New York Supreme Court Judge Harold Baer, Jr.; the United States Attorney’s Office; and the Law Offices of T. Kevin Murtha, Esq.

When she joined the Queens County District Attorney’s Office in 1988, Barbara Wilkanowski took on significant responsibility and laid the groundwork for a long, successful career with the office. Over the years, Barbara Wilkanowski became a well-regarded, well-respected member of the DA’s Office, winning most of her cases and investigating and preparing criminal cases for Criminal and Supreme Court trials. Barbara Wilkanowski also excelled in dispute resolution between all levels of the DA’s Office's staff and members of other civic and federal agencies.
