Basil Lyberg

Basil’s career in non-profit management has always had three common elements: fundraising, cycling and program expansion.

Basil currently serves as the Executive Director of 24 Hours of Booty, the official 24-hour ride of LIVESTRONG. Since the event’s inception, 24 Hours of Booty has raised $5.2 million and hosted more than 9,000 riders. Basil became involved with 24 Hours of Booty cycling 208 miles in 2007. Taken with the event, he joined the organization’s event committee in 2008 and was brought on staff in 2009.

Prior to his time with 24 Hours of Booty, Basil dedicated nine years to work with Push America, a national non-profit organization that builds the leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today. There, Basil served in a variety of roles including event recruitment, program management, logistics and financial development. While at Push America, Basil expanded the organization’s signature cycling event, the Journey of Hope; established the Push America Challenge; and achieved record-level corporate sponsorships and fundraising, including a $1 million endowment gift. Basil was named a “Rising Star” by FundRaising Success magazine in 2009.

In 1998, Basil participated in a cross-country cycling event, and since then, he has participated in charity cycling events in Colorado, California, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. He has also been active in the YMCA of Greater Charlotte and recently completed his fourth marathon. A graduate of Central Michigan University, Basil resides in Charlotte, N.C., with his wife, Michelle, and their children Luke and Emma.
