After getting a computer science degree from MIT and working for five years as a software engineer, I was finally ready to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher.
That was 2005, and today my students have gone on to attend and graduate from places like Cal Poly, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon.
I teach in a classroom every day, but great power also comes from learning outside of school.
I believe in summer.
Summer 2010, I was in Jerusalem, teaching computer science to Israeli and Palestinian high school students.
Summer 2011, I was at Google in San Francisco, helping 8th grade students explore the role computer science will play in their lives and futures.
Summer 2012, the future is wide open.
