Bethany Suckrow
I'm a coffee-obsessed writer with a love for the poetic, bookish, and creative. I live and work in the Chicago suburbs with my musician husband, Matt.
I started blogging in 2008 when I traveled abroad to Austria for a semester, and started blogging consistently in 2009 after I graduated college and before I found a full time job. I author the blog She Writes and Rights, where I explore the writing life, my creative struggles, and my observations of the world. I’m also a regular contributor for Prodigal Magazine, where I share stories on faith and life.
My Etsy shop, The Ripe Word, is where I sell my artwork. My artwork is inspired by my mother, Tina, who lived with metastatic breast cancer for 14 years before passing away on January 2, 2012. She taught me how to live and to be passionate about my work, my relationships, and my faith.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Writing from Judson University, where I continue to work as their full time staff writer and social media manager.
When I’m not hunched over my desk typing obsessively, you can find me curled up in a chair with coffee and a good read, or standing at my kitchen counter chopping vegetables, because I love to cook (and eat.)
