Billy is the author of "How the First Christians Changed Dying." He is also the editor of and regular contributor to "The Orant", an ecumenical theology blog concerned with how the traditional practices of Christian worship relate to the challenges of contemporary culture. He can also be regularly heard on "The Crossed Purposes Podcast", a weekly radio show that discusses how pop-culture relates to theology and he hosts the Quick and Dirty Theology Show, a weekly video series on talking about God.

He has spent the last 10 years as a youth minister, speaker and worship leader. He received his B.A. in religious studies from Regent University and his Masters of Divinity from North Park Theological Seminary. He is currently working on a PhD in Liturgy and Sacramental theology at The Catholic University of America. He currently lives in Washington D.C. with his wife Joan and son Liam. When he's not talking about theology, he also lectures and writes about the coffee industry.
