A child of the digital age Krys "bLaKtivist" Freeman likes to be thought of as a web enthusiast.
S/he spends her free time exploring new ways to employ web technology to bring about social change, freelancing on local projects with purpose. S/he's worked with a number of organizations including: the Brown Boi Project, Lucina's Kitchen and the youth media arts program at United Roots - all based in Oakland. By day, Krys serves as the Web Project Manager for GreenBiz Group.
For five years Krys called Los Angeles home, while completing an undergraduate degree in Urban & Environmental Policy, with a minor in Critical Theory & Social Justice at Occidental College. In June 2011, Krys began working on an SMS application called BettaSTOP - offering commuters the ability to give immediate feedback on their transit experience, whether they own a smart phone or not.
