The Light Family

The Light Family consists of Benjamin and Shannon Light, as well as their three children - Thing 1, Thing 2, and Thing 3.

Beginning in 2005 with a home that was in various states of disrepair and a 1/6 acre lot covered in blackberry brambles and arborvitae, delapitated fences and other junk randomly stashed among the trees -- they began to carve out a home.

In 2011, with their dreams of owning land in the country on hold - they decided to begin converting the land that they did have into an urban homestead and the "Little House on 17th Street" was born.

Through continuing hard work, they strive for a measure of self-sufficiency that most 'City Folk' simply don't achieve. Their ultimate goal is to grow the majority of their own vegetables, as well as produce their own eggs and honey.

The homestead is a never ending process, something is always changing - join us in the adventure!
