Leadership of infantry combat operations in Malaya and Vietnam. Rose to the fifth senior appointment in the New Zealand Army. Took early retirement to assume the role of Vice President (Administration) at Massey University, New Zealand.

Then given tenure with the recommendation "..... has been a tower of strength, utterly dedicated to the university and earned the respect of academic and administrative staff alike......"

Initiatives included seeing the need for and creating the School of Aviation, instrumental in establishing the first Executive MBA in New Zealand, and overhauled almost all of the administrative business entities on campus including Sports Centre, Halls of Residence and catering, Printery, TV Studios, and most logistic facilities. Turning them into profitable and effective business enterprises. Chairman or member of numerous academic and administrative committees. Member, Palmerston North City Economic Development Committee.

On retirement from the University he led various charitable and 'not for profit' enterprises. Including Parade 98 which overcame decades of NZ Government neglect and public indifference to Vietnam Veterans and their situation. Opinion was changed, the Department of Veterans Affairs was established and media note taken of the project throughout NZ and Australia, plus the United States, Singapore, Hongkong, and the UK. Followed by chairmanship of Onward 2000 which succeeded in lifting public awareness of NZ's military heritage.

Qualified via competitive examination entry for the British Army Staff College at Camberley UK. But attended and graduated from the U S Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

BSc Econ Hons - University of London. Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration - Massey University.

Created the NZ Leader-Manager Concept for senior executive development.
