Surgeon, educator, and researcher Dr. Bobby Chhabra currently holds a variety of prestigious positions at the University of Virginia (UVA) and within its Health System (UVHS). In addition to acting in the capacity as Chair of the UVA Department of Orthopaedics, he is likewise a tenured Professor of both Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery at UVA’s School of Medicine. Furthermore, Bobby Chhabra, MD holds the Lillian T. Pratt Distinguished Professorship of Orthopaedic Surgery, and was the Co-Founder of the UVA Hand Center and the Orthopaedic Hand Fellowship Program.
For the past decade, Dr. Chhabra has concurrently held a number of positions including being the Division Head of Hand Surgery and the Hand and Upper Extremity Consultant for UVA Athletics. He has served as the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Surgical Services for the UVA Operating Rooms.
Dr. Bobby Chhabra obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The Johns Hopkins University, and then subsequently earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at UVA. His advanced training includes a fellowship in hand, microvascular, and congenital hand surgery at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas and the Hand Center of San Antonio.
