Venture capitalist Boris Goldstein, Ph.D., commands more than three decades of experience overseeing companies in various industries, including software development and mineral acquisition. At present, Mr. Goldstein serves as the Managing Director of the Pacific Venture Fund, where he and his associates focus on investing in the sectors of mining and energy, alternative energy, life sciences, and technology.

Earning his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Applied Mathematics from Riga Technical University in Latvia, his country of origin, Boris Goldstein received recognition as a premier systems software specialist while still attending university. Shortly after receiving his degrees, Mr. Goldstein began collaborating with other top Latvian programmers and inventors to develop VEPA, a software database designed to rival those produced by top American companies of the time. A few years later, he helped found a private firm called Software House HT with his business partners. Together, they achieved $1 million in profits within one year by selling their software to financial institutions and corporate enterprises. In 1991, Mr. Goldstein became co-founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman for Solby, a multi-industry consortium with operations in 17 countries. Mr. Goldstein played a critical role in diversifying the business interests of Solby into natural resources development and financial enterprises.

Boris Goldstein moved from Latvia to San Francisco in the early 1990s to oversee the expansion of Solby. While living in California with his family, Mr. Goldstein received his Ph.D. from the University of Latvia. In 1999, he began overseeing operations at the Pacific Venture Fund. Through his work at the Pacific Venture Fund, Mr. Goldstein serves as an advisor or board member to Pacific Petroleum Technology, Solar Thin Films, Terasources Mineral S.A., BrainRX, the Universal Engine Group, and many other companies.
