A coeducational institution for teens in grades 9-12, Boulder Creek Academy offers year-round enrollment to students who have struggled to succeed in conventional educational environments. For these students, who may suffer from challenges ranging from learning disorders to depression, an 18 month program is offered, built around the integration of academic instruction, therapeutic engagement, and experiential adventure education. At Boulder Creek Academy, personal growth is recognized as the avenue through which educational achievement is made possible. Therefore, academic learning is integrated with positive social and experiential reinforcement.

Students entering the Academy receive a three-week assessment, allowing for academic instruction that is designed around their individual learning style and suited to address their strengths and limitations. An average class size of six students allows instructors to maintain attention to each student’s personal needs. Beyond the classroom, students’ self-growth is cultivated through regular individual, group and family therapy sessions. Group-based experiential adventures ,such as kayaking, as also offered.

Boulder Creek’s curriculum is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission. The Academy is also licensed to accept students from abroad through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Furthermore, the school’s professional affiliations include the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) and full membership in the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP).
