I was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. When I graduated high school, I made my way to Oberlin College, where I found college admissions work, became a swing dancer, and started figuring out how to blend my working class Southern background with my bourgeois education.

I'm now based in Virginia while I try to find a job that will pay me to do what I love: connecting prospective students to colleges and, in particular, underrepresented populations to liberal arts colleges. While I do that, pay the bills with marketing & public relations work, being a personal assistant, and organizing dance events.

In my spare time I swing dance, read a whole lot of things in print and online, actually enjoy copyediting, and decend deeper and deeper into the gospel of cooking local food.
