Brett

Software Engineer in Reading, United Kingdom

Professional geek and animal lover.

Originally from the North West, I live by the River Thames in Reading.

Currently taking a career break after a 25 year stint as a Software Architect and Engineer.

In recent years, I have worked in research and development, formulating solutions and producing high level designs for an online live event platform. This work involved devising solutions from scratch, technology selection and evaluation and the development of prototypes. I have developed subject matter expertise in this domain particularly around live streaming, transcoding, real-time communications and signalling. In addition, I have kept abreast of software industry best practice and have chosen technology appropriate to the needs of the solution in particular the design and development of fault-tolerent real-time distributed systems.

I am an experienced and educated animal rescue volunteer. My experience lies primarily in the welfare and rehabilitation of dogs in their senior years. I have studied Dog Behaviour with the IMDT and have qualified in Canine First Aid.

I love to talk and one way I do this is by using Amateur radio. I qualified in lockdown. Callsign: 2E0HFW.
