Brian Swirsky MD

An accomplished cardiologist currently practicing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Brian Swirsky, MD, FACC, holds over two decades of experience as a Board Certified Cardiologist. Early in his career, he served as an Emergency Room Physician at Pacific Hospital in Long Beach, California, before establishing a private practice in 1986 at The Cardiology Group, PC, in New Haven, Connecticut. Brian Swirsky, MD, most recently joined Baton Rouge Cardiology Center, where he focuses on Interventional Cardiology.

Highly active in the local medical community, he serves on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Baton Rouge General Hospital, which recently granted him the award of Physician of the Year, and the Heart and Vascular Advisory Board at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Brian Swirsky, MD, is also President of the Baton Rouge Capital Area chapter of the American Heart Association. In 2006, he earned the honor of Medical Hero from the American Red Cross for his contributions to Hurricane Katrina medical relief.

Educated at Lehigh University, Dr. Brian Swirsky completed his Bachelor of Science in Organic Chemistry as a summa cum laude graduate in 1977. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from Hahnemann Medical University in 1981. The extensive postdoctoral training of Brian Swirsky, MD, entailed serving a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of California, Irvine.

Brian Swirsky, MD, contributes to the development of his field by engaging in research on heart disease. Much of his research focuses on determining ways to control risk factors associated with heart disease. In academia, Dr. Swirsky serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tulane School of Medicine and formerly at the Yale School of Medicine. He is also a past Cardiology Editor of Better Health Magazine.
