Brian Vierria
Brian Vierria joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2007 and currently holds the position of Regulatory Project Manager, in which capacity he helps protect the nation’s waterways from pollution in the form of unregulated discharges. Enforcement of the Clean Water Act is a jointly administered project of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency. The law ensures protection of the country’s wetlands, tributaries, and waterways from unauthorized dredging and filling. Issuing dredge and fill material discharge permits and preventing unsanctioned dumping in the country’s waterways, Brian Vierria enforces public compliance under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act, which applies to any obstruction to or alteration in navigable waterways. A conscientious professional, Brian Vierria received on-the-spot awards for excellent customer service and appreciation letters from the regulated community for his work. Graduating from Officer Candidate School in 2009, Brian Vierria also joined the California Army National Guard as Signal Officer, the primary staff officer in charge of mission command in the 1st Battalion, 143rd Field Artillery Regiment. As Signal Officer, Brian Vierria plans and coordinates all communications assets, both digital and vocal, in real-world combat.
Graduating from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, Brian Vierria earned his degree in chemistry and received honors in undergraduate research and language. As a student, he earned the Level 1004 Award in Russian. Brian Vierria supports the National Guard Association of the United States, the Newman Centers, and the East Carolina Alumni Association. He has also participated in First Responder Emergency Operations with the Army Corps of Engineers and the Army National Guard.
