Shawn Brown

Beloved by fans for his blue-eyed soul vocals, freewheeling melodies, and earthy charm, singer, songwriter, and musician Shawn Brown is ecstatic to be releasing his new EP Chasing Streetlights in the Summer of 2012. Following in the footsteps of his debut album, Just in Case, and several EPs, Shawn's new offering is a potent mix of upbeat, radio friendly fun and Shawn's soul-drenched voice. His sound has fueled comparisons to artists such as Marc Broussard, Gavin Degraw, and Jason Mraz. ("This guy gives Rob Thomas a run for his money!" Away Team. com.) Brown first received attention for his 2005 single 'Lucky Boy', which was featured in several television shows, as did his 2007 single 'The Risk'. He has toured both nationally and internationally in the past and after several years away from music writing for other artists – is back, armed with the best songs of his career.

The story of Chasing Streetlights is an emotional one for Shawn. "Yeah", he laughs, "It was pretty amazing. At one point, I was talking to a buddy of mine about how it wasn't going to work out with my most recent label and he suggested that I try a Kickstarter campaign to raise some money to make the songs on my own. Obviously, I was skeptical! The idea of asking people to help me fund this thing didn't sit well with me originally. I just didn't want to bother folks." However, Shawn was able to fund his music through his Kickstarter campaign. "It's tough for me to talk about still, without getting all choked up. The fact that so many people wanted me to make more music, it's one of the best feelings you can have. Lots of people believing in you..." he goes on "I've listened to my favorite songs a million times. I was just so motivated to try and write some records like that, with all of those folks who gave to my Kickstarter campaign in mind. I just want them all to listen to the songs and think 'I made this too'."

Shawn is also getting ready for the touring that comes along with supporting a new release. "Its special, man. The whole story of this EP, pulling the band back together and the shows to follow. Kinda feels like magic." With the anticipation of his new release building, Shawn keeps it simple, "I've said it a million times – I just love to sing and play for people. The fact that folks like my songs and all that...it's a great moment to be trapped in".
