Hello! I'm John Buckley and I'm a Health Professions Advisor in the Center for Health Profession Studies at UD. I'm a Certified Appreciative Advisor who can help you explore your developing identity as a healthcare professional! Our office helps students to build awareness of health professions, determine actions to build pre-professional competencies, and develop consistent academic and career development plans.

As an advisor, I help you manage the challenges and opportunities of your education – when you feel lost, need to consider learning approaches, or want to know more about what resources are available, I want to help you make the most of your pursuit of higher education.

I came to advising in 2014 after 5 years in mental health/non-profits. As a Pre-College Advisor for Upward Bound at Wichita State University, I developed a love for helping first generation college students envision their future. My graduate work included an assistantship in student activities and two practica in advising. I came to UD in 2022 after 4+ years advising Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, and Business majors at UT-Knoxville and 2 years of work with deciding and pre-professional students at the University of Kansas where I collaborated with a team to develop a major exploration pathway program.

My personal interests include cycling, camping, hiking, mindfulness, cooking, music, arts, politics, and social justice.
