Along with her husband, Timothy Byron, Mila Byron is owner and managing partner of Byron and Company law firm in Fort McMurray, Alberta. She has practiced law in Canada for 14 years, with the last ten in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, which includes Fort McMurray. Her law firm focused its services in the practice areas of real estate, estates law, business law and civil litigation.

Mila and Timothy have practiced both criminal and civil law and their knowledge and experience affords their clients with reliable guidance in the pursuit and defence of their legal rights.

Prior to studying the law, Mila attended McGill University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and graduated with honors. Mila graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2000, which is where she earned her law degree. While attending the University of Ottawa, she worked with the Office of Commissioner of Review Tribunals reviewing decisions of the Canadian Pension Board.

After graduation, Mila worked in prosecutorial law with the international law firm of Golwing Lafleur Henderson in Calgary, Alberta. Following this position, she served as Crown Prosecutor with the Government of Alberta’s Office of the Attorney General. As a Crown Prosecutor, Mila was actively involved in a number of high-profile cases, including manslaughter cases.

Mila left the Attorney General’s office and moved to Fort McMurray in 2003 where she opened her own law firm. In 2004, she established the Byron and Company law firm with her husband, Timothy Byron. Adapting her legal focus to the needs of the community, Mila offers services in civil and real estate law. In addition to her legal duties, Mila is committed to staying involved in her adopted community, and as a citizen of Fort McMurray, is involved in a variety of professional, community and volunteer services.

In 2007, Mila was elected as a municipal councilor for Fort McMurray, a position she held for three years. While serving as a councilor, she emphasized community planning and development and accountability to taxpayers.
