Caitlin Kinney

I just graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in English Literature. More often than not, people wonder how I managed to land on a public relations specialist as a career aspiration.

To put it simply, studying literature has convinced me that the human condition can really be boiled down to one key element: connections. I am deeply interested in these connections: how people bond with one another, how they identify with places and memories, and ultimately how they attach to stories. Public Relations is all about the human connection. It joins a personality with a company, creates an experience around a brand, or tells one of the many stories behind a deserving cause.

I’ve had the privilege to help tell the stories of consumer, nonprofit and otherwise intensely interesting companies through public relations internships. I’ve also been lucky enough to learn from some of the most passionate and talented PR Pros in the greater Seattle area. At the moment I am working with a dedicated group of individuals who make it their business to promote worthy causes.

Over the past year I’ve learned to pitch, to brand, and to network. But of course, a year doesn’t make me an expert in all things PR--I’m always looking extend my network and learn more about the business!
