Charter boat captain Mark Pomerenke of Phoenix, Arizona, served in the United States Air Force for two decades, as a ground crew technician he held crew chief responsibility for a variety of jet fighter aircraft, his aircrew duty was that of a Flight Engineer aboard C141 heavy jet transpaorts. Retiring at the rank of master sergeant, Mark Pomerenke pursued a career in healthcare administration and consulting.

He bought his first vessel, the sailing catamaran Nine Lives, in 1992, and as its captain, he learned proper boat handling and navigation techniques. He now holds a Coast Guard 50-ton Master’s license as well as a current Federal Communications Commission ship radio station license and general radiotelephone operator license. Pomerenke has sailed to some of the world’s most popular destinations for charter service, including the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, and Martha’s Vineyard.

He has offered discounts or free trips to fellow servicemen and women, charity fundraisers, and sailing students. In his spare time, Pomerenke enjoys a variety of aquatic pursuits including diving and spear fishing. He has three children, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Currently, he continues to pursue new knowledge and experiences by studying Spanish.
