Carole Hankin
Syosset, New York
Dr. Carole Hankin has been the Superintendent of Schools in Syosset-Woodbury, New York for twenty-three years and has led the School District to become one of the top school districts in the country. She announced her resignation for the purpose of retirement today.
Dr. Hankin has been invited to work and speak nationally about the new and serious issues in education and to appear on national television to discuss some of these issues. She would like to help find positive solutions for the future of education by utilizing her educational experience to bring together groups of educators and parents throughout the country to work towards solutions.
Dr. Hankin has her doctorate and two master degrees from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. She received a certificate from The Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations and attended seminars at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration and Yale University Graduate School of management. She is permanently certified as a School District Administrator; School Administrator and Supervisor; Reading Teacher; Teacher of Special Education; Social Studies Teacher, Grades 7-12; and Teacher of Nursery Kindergarten, and Grades 1-6.
She will be writing a book for parents on the inside story of suburban public schools, the emphasis on information testing, helping parents navigate their child’s education, working with administrators and teachers, and the most interesting aspects of her career. In this book she will be highlighting many educators, teachers, administrators, parents and members of the community who have worked to make sure that there are excellent academic programs, for every child, as well as sports, extra-curricular courses and clubs, music and art.
An important goal of hers is to work with low performing school districts throughout the country to bring many of the educational practices Syosset Schools utilize to help them improve.
Dr. Hankin plans to lecture at National Universities to encourage the best and brightest students to enter the field of education.
