Carol Howell

Thanks for stopping by my page. I am Carol Howell, and I am a busy woman. I am a Certified Dementia Specialist and an Endorsed Life Coach. I work with families who are traveling the journey of dementia. This journey is always somewhat scary, quite a bit confusing, and even bordering on frustrating. However, once we work together, the knowledge you gain makes the journey much easier. This same knowledge even brings about - get ready for this - laughter! My motto is, "Knowledge brings POWER. Power brings HOPE. And hope brings SMILES. We all need more smiles." Let's get together to begin this process of learning about dementia. There is so much you need to know, and I am happy to help you gain that knowledge. The first hour together is free. So, you have nothing to lose. Even if you don't live close by, we can consult via Skype or FaceTime. Send me a note!

I also am heavily involved in bringing music into the lives of my favorite people in the world - senior citizens. Whether they have physical or cognitive issues, they enjoy singing the songs of their youth. Each week I gather these folks together and we sing wonderful songs from the 40's through the 60's. They come "alive" to music, and I am thrilled to help make it happen.

One other thing about me - I am a published author. I write Christian books that have a heaping helping of humor thrown in to liven the pages. My three books are HOW I SEE IT; IF MY BODY IS A TEMPLE, WHY AM I EATING DOUGHNUTS?; and I PRAYED FOR MY REFRIGERATOR...AND OTHER STORIES OF FAITH. Check me out at www.carolhowellbooks.com . The fall of 2012 will bring with it my fourth book. The title is EVELYN, I HAVEN'T POOPED IN A YEAR - A Caregiver's Guide to Dementia. I will admit that is a somewhat interesting title. To find out why that title was chosen will require an email to ME. Just to get your brain to churning, did you know there is a difference between Alzheimer's and dementia? Did you know there are reversible and irreversible dementias? Do you know how to properly shake hands with someone with dementia?

These are just a few of the many things we explore together. Don't travel this journey alone. I am qualified to help, and I "live" dementia everyday. My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's type dementia in August of 2006. I practice what I preach each and every day. My experiences help make your life better. It is a win-win situation.
