The sad joke is that I write documents that no one wants to read. But they should! I have been a technical writer for over 20 years and the main hat that I wear allows me to transform high-tech information into knowledge that my readers can use to accomplish a necessary task – and then move on and get back to doing what they do best, whatever that is. One client recently read (oh yes!) and commented on my team's documentation, stating, "You have amazing documentation and that went a VERY long way into making this a painless process."

It's said that those who can, do, and those who can't, teach. I did and then I taught. For 18 years, I took all of my on-the-job experience and attempted to impart it on the young minds of my students in my technical communication class at California State University, Long Beach. A student in my class recently sent me an e-mail after the course ended and stated, "I really enjoyed your class. It is probably the most useful English course I have ever taken."

Now, you can't sit behind a book or a computer all your life. So when I'm not writing or teaching, I'm experiencing life – traveling, hiking, camping, skiing, running, and cooking.

That's all about.me.
