Casey Baumgartner

My full name is Casandra Chong Baumgartner, but I prefer to be known as Casey. Half of me is Caucasian (German mostly), and the other is at a constant struggle between both my Mexican and Chinese roots. Though the Chinese part of me is overpowering in my physical features (and if you want to get stereotypical, my educational intellect as well), my spirit can only be described as purely Mexican. Because I was raised a military brat, I've stepped foot on every sustainable continent except Australia and South America, and I possess an Italian, Mexican, and United States citizenship.

I used to be hesitant when asked what I do for a living. I mean, do I really consider writing an occupation? Can I really entitle it just a hobby? I wasn’t really thrilled with either of these assessments. So then what am I supposed to tell people? After much debate with myself, I finally decided on a label that I was most comfortable with: writing is my way of life.
