Boasting a comprehensive education and more than a decade of professional experience, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney serves as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist at the San Jose, California, office of the Obstetrix Medical Group. Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney specializes in treating women with high-risk pregnancies related to fetal and maternal issues. Focusing on compassionate and respectful care, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney performs a number of prenatal diagnostic procedures to deliver the best possible results for all involved. Prior to moving to the United States, Swedish native Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney attended the Sigtuna Foundation (Sigtunastiftelsen) and earned her Doctor of Medicine at the Karolinska Institute (Karolinska Institutet) in 1990. Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney completed a fellowship in primary health care with an emphasis on maternal and child health care, as well as volunteer primary health care work in Ankara, Turkey, as part of her medical education. The recipient of an International Medical Student Exchange Scholarship, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney commenced a six-month sub-internship in gynecologic oncology at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1990. Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney concluded her sub-internship in 1991 and stayed at Brown University for an additional two years to conduct gynecological and obstetrical research. From 1993 through 1997, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney continued her medical training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, completing an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney decided to participate in a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at the University of California, Irvine, and relocated to California in 1997. While attending to postgraduate coursework in nuchal translucency screening, epidemiology and biostatistics, and genetics, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney acted as a Manuscript Reviewer for the prestigious American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
