I'm a happily married father of four (all boys except three) serving Clifton Park Community Church as a deacon and occasional Sunday School teacher.

I'm a firm believer in God's sovereignty, man's responsibility, and a gracious orthodoxy.

I'm reformed in my soteriology (I'm a moderate Calvinist), but not in the historical sense of the term (I'm a Baptist). I love the Puritans and Reformers, but don't believe our understanding of theology tapped out in the seventeenth or eighteenth centuries. I love the reformed confessions, but am not a strict subscriptionist.

I try to hold a scriptural balance between biblical and systematic theology. Never force a square peg into a round hole for the sake of a theological system. On the other hand, don't forget that Scripture has a covenantal framework.

I really like the smell of new books. I'm a slow, but voracious reader. I drink a lot of coffee.

Some of my favorite modern theologians include John Frame, Kevin Vanhoozer, Douglas Moo, GK Beale, DA Carson, Peter O'Brien, Vern Poythress, Thomas Schreiner, and Oliver Crisp (not to be confused with one of my favorite desserts, Apple Crisp). My list of favorite dead theologians is too long to list here. I also love the work of Marilynne Robinson.

Did I mention I drink a lot of coffee?
