In the summer of 2009, I decided to take a last-minute flight to visit my family in Pau, France; it was the first time in 21 years that I was getting on a plane. As I landed on the airstrip of Charles de Gaulle, I felt a sense of independence and freedom that was unfamiliar to me. During my trip I experienced the most beautiful landscapes and people I had ever known. From the small cobblestone streets in the towns, to the vast vineyards in the countryside; from the old woman selling me cheese at the market to the clanking of the iron-worker's anvil. I was moved.

When my uncle took me to visit his sister, Suzan, I saw the splitting image of my grandmother. In her quaint home, she told me stories, reminiscing of times passed and family members with whom I felt immediately connected.

During my time in France, I met new people, made new friends, saw beautiful landscapes, learned new cultures and most importantly: I lived, I loved, and I laughed.

On my return journey, upon landing in Montreal and seeing my family waiting for me; I realized how much I had missed my friends and my city. I came back to Montreal, my home, as a changed man making it my life's vocation to share what I have experienced through my photography.

My name is Chant Asaduryan and my passion is about capturing the meaning of life.
