A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Charles Feinstein studied medicine at the University of Bologna in Italy. He returned to the United States to complete an internship at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn and then a surgical residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan. After choosing his focus of urology, Dr. Feinstein completed a urological residency at Cook County Hospital and the University of Illinois Medical Center, a combined program with the West Side VA Hospital. He ultimately served as the Chief Resident at Cook County Hospital for a year before opening his private practice in 1985.

Along with the responsibilities of his private practice, Dr. Charles Feinstein is on the Medical Staff at Thorek Hospital, Weiss Memorial Hospital, and Rogers Park Surgicenter, all located in Chicago. Dr. Feinstein also attends professional meetings across the globe and pays particular attention to new procedures in Europe that are not currently available in the United States.

Married with three adult children, Dr. Charles Feinstein enjoys spending time with his family, playing racquetball, gardening, and traveling. He supports a number of institutions engaged in cancer research in honor of his mother and father who both died from the disease. He also supports several children's hospitals and his Chicago community, and he donates to his medical school to offer scholarships to students with financial need.
