Charles L. Starr

Philanthropically minded, business professional Charles L. Starr maintains several charitable commitments in his community. As a United States Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War as an electronics specialist immediately after graduating from high school, Charles L. Starr actively participates in The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW). A non-profit veteran service organization dedicated to supporting United States veterans of overseas conflicts, VFW advocates on behalf of all veterans in addition to funding service memorials, sponsoring college scholarships, and promoting volunteerism. Moreover, Charles L. Starr contributes regularly to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the non-profit charity charted on behalf of disabled veterans and their families. Representing more than 200,000 veterans and their dependents annually, DAV provides volunteer services and grassroots advocacy around the nation in order to honor service members and their sacrifices. In addition to his work with veterans' organizations, Charles L. Starr also donates to the United Way, the international community-based organization that aims to advance the common good through education, financial stability, and healthy lives. Charles L. Starr graduated from Pelham Memorial High School in Pelham, New York, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Brown University. Formerly President of USA Blinds Factory and USA Video Entertainment, Inc., Charles L. Starr also held sales and management roles at Nestlé S.A., Helene Curtis Industries, and Johnson & Johnson. As Vice President of Marketing of H.P. Hood & Sons for 20 years, Charles L. Starr brought numerous new products to the New England market, including low-fat alternatives to whole milk as well as prepackaged fruit and yogurt combination products.
