In the case of Fuches et al. vs. TransTexas Gas Corp, Charles T. Edin sued the company on the plaintiffs’ behalf over unpaid oil well royalties to the citizens of Dickinson, North Dakota. The case resulted in judgment in favor of the class against TransTexas Gas Corporation of approximately a quarter million dollars.

Charles T. Edin’s interest in oil and gas law began during his law school days. While attending the University Of North Dakota School Of Law, Charles T. Edin performed as a Research Assistant for a professor. In this capacity, Charles T. Edin assisted in the research and preparation of the text Cases and Materials on Oil and Gas Law, which became one of the leading law school texts in the area of oil and gas law. Charles T. Edin’s work earned him the Burtness Research Scholarship. In addition, while earning his Juris Doctor, Charles T. Edin acted as an independent Landman for Westex Petroleum Corporation, handling the company’s oil and gas leasing and title work in North Dakota and the Williston Basin.
