Charles Wilder

Charles John Wilder is the Executive Chairman of Bluescape Resources and Chairman of the John and Susan Wilder Foundation. Through funding initiatives and programs that foster youth development, Christian ministries, and public school education, the John and Susan Wilder Foundation is able to improve the lives of many families. Wilder has extensive experience in the business world, including the spearheading of two successful financial and operational turnarounds within the energy industry. Wilder serves as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TXU Corp., a company that he has transformed into one of the nation’s largest energy companies over a four-year period. TXU Corp. has gone from a bottom-quartile regulated monopoly to a competitive, high-performance industrial enterprise under his care. TXU delivered 70% annual returns to its shareholders and was ranked seventh best in the S&P; 500 while Wilder has been at the helm. In his capacity as Chief Financial Officer at Entergy Corporation, Wilder ushered in annualized returns that exceeded the returns of the S&P; 500 by 18-fold with the improvements he instituted. As a balance to his corporate savvy, Wilder also maintains a deep commitment to giving back to his global community. He regularly volunteers and makes contributions to charitable organizations, and he has even established a family foundation. Among the charities Wilder supports, United Way is a special passion. A United Way Tocqueville Society member for years, Charles Wilder was named CEO of the Year for the success of TXU’s 2005 campaign. Additionally, he helped TXU earn the Spirit of Caring Award for the 2006 campaign and the Outstanding Campaign Growth and Pacesetter of the Year Awards in 2007. Charles Wilder is a native of Missouri and graduated magna cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas.
